Gemma is a people focused leader, committed to breaking the traditional law firm model to create room for new opportunities and collective success. Prior to her appointment as CEO of Tavendale and Partners (TP) at the start of 2022, Gemma worked as an agribusiness and private client lawyer for seven years. This ‘on-the-ground’ experience enables Gemma to properly understand the challenges of the legal industry, and allows her to drive creative initiatives that really make a difference to her team and their clients.

Gemma was a key driver in developing the firm’s strategy, which challenges the status quo and puts people at the centre of everything TP does. She also created the TP ‘Pod System’ which was designed as a support structure for authors, while also improving individual financial management and workflow within teams. Through these initiatives, and others, Gemma fosters a high performance culture that does not compromise staff wellbeing.

Gemma was recently recognised for her strategic vision and leadership skills, winning the Future Leader Award at the 2022 Australasian Legal Practice Managers Association (ALPMA) Summit on the Gold Coast. This award recognises outstanding contributions to the legal industry from the next generation of law firm leaders across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
