Emily has worked in various organisations and sectors as a lawyer: she was the Legal Director of a cutting-edge start-up in the Australian disability sector, and before that she was the General Counsel of a well-established Australian industrial equipment rental company. She also has a background in employment law, having worked in two of New Zealand’s top private practice teams.
In 2021 Emily took a leap and returned to New Zealand to launch her own legal practice, leveraging her Trans-Tasman and inhouse experience. Based in Auckland, she now works with a number of New Zealand and Trans-Tasman businesses on an ‘outsourced inhouse’ basis, providing inhouse-style commercial and employment law support, as needed. Within this, she has a particular niche in helping Australian businesses navigate New Zealand employment law.
Emily believes that legal services can be delivered in many different ways. She sees that businesses in Australia are increasingly receptive to new models of legal service delivery, and believes there is huge potential for New Zealand businesses to do the same. She also enjoys mentoring young lawyers and law students, inspiring them to explore opportunities both within and beyond the conventional linear career paths.
